There is a rice paddy along Sugagawa river which flows right next to the shrine, and there is a hole of 70cm diameter filled with grass. It is said that if it's disturbed a great flood is created as the Kami's punishment. There is a true story that a villager who did exactly this brought a storm the next day, and he was driven out of the village by the angry villagers.
